Singaporean divers unaware of Taiwan’s dive gems

At the Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) 2026 in Singapore, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) revealed that 48% of surveyed Singaporean divers are unaware of Taiwan’s diving offerings, with 50% having never explored its waters. The survey, conducted onsite with over 1,000 respondents, highlights a significant gap in awareness despite Taiwan’s proximity and visa-free entry from Singapore.

The Taiwan Pavilion at ADEX showcased the country’s four major aquatic frontiers, with Green Island as the headline attraction. Known for its volcanic origins and the warm Kuroshio Current, Green Island offers exceptional visibility and unique features like the “Big Mushroom,” a coral structure over 1,000 years old. Additionally, divers can send postcards from the world’s deepest underwater mailbox at the Shilang Diving Area.

Xiaoliuqiu, another featured destination, is renowned for its dense population of green sea turtles, offering snorkellers close encounters with these ancient creatures. Night tours on the island reveal a different ecosystem, providing a unique experience under a starry sky.

Penghu, with its basalt coastline and coral restoration programme, offers travellers the chance to participate in reef recovery efforts. The archipelago’s iconic landmarks, such as the Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge and Qimei Island’s twin stone fish traps, add to its allure.

With a growing interest in eco-conscious travel among young divers, Taiwan’s commitment to sustainable diving was emphasised at the Pavilion. The event also highlighted Taiwan’s dive industry, showcasing brands like ATMOS and DIVEVERYDAY, which offer world-class dive technology.

As ADEX 2026 concludes, Taiwan’s dive scene emerges as a significant untapped opportunity for Singaporean divers seeking new adventures just a short flight away
